I was privileged to be a member's guest on this gorgeous course! Challenging without being punishing. In great condition too. Views are terrific, one hole runs parallel with the river Wear so keep left on that one! Fantastic practice areas way beyond the norm. Everyone was friendly be they staff or members on the course. The course is brilliant, probably one of the easier courses around but nicely kept. A load flies since its right next to the river too

Our visiting party started the day with a warm welcome from the Club Captain - other clubs please note - and a generously sized bacon buttie!
Then it was out on the course. And what a course! Extremely attractive views as we circled the impressive & ancient Lumley Castle.
The views were eclipsed by the fabulously maintained course layout. Plenty of challenges for players of all levels, assisted by recent tree thinning & thoughtful design changes.
After our round, it was back to the very well appointed clubhouse for a meal. Like everything else, fabulous. Great grub and efficient friendly service.
All in all, a golf club well worth visiting for groups both small and large.

Called in as they advertised breakfast on a banner outside,but no breakfast to be had as apparently kitchen doesn't open until 12 noon,so just had a couple of coffees and left looking for somewhere else to eat,very disappointed and will not be back

I didn’t play but went for breakfast 2wice in our stay at the Lumley Castle . 🏰 am sure that the £20+ per person for a quality breakfast is worth it it the £7 for an equally decent at the Golf Club was way better value. Loved the lady doing the cooking , so helpful
