My son enjoyed a few months in the GCSE preparatory class, but then was ejected from the class in the middle of the year when we forgot to sign him up "in time" for the next session.

Seems to be a running theme in England. If you want to do anything nice or take part in anything nice, best to schedule it several years in advance. Otherwise it's booked. Sorry. Try later.

My experience at the Alliance Française has been fantastic. I have noticed a marked improvement in my French since I began studying 1:1 with Marcelle, and my children have really enjoyed the weekly lessons and holiday clubs. The experience has prepared them well for attending school in France. Merci à tous!

Alliance Française Oxford were able to offer me one-to-one on-line French Lessons. I worked with Marcelle Delvaux-Abbott to prepare my Delf B1 Examination. The convenience of on-line teaching was ideal, as it enabled me to plan lessons when I had spare time, and from anywhere with a good internet connection. Although I had a previous knowledge of French Language, Marcelle really helped me to focus on the correct method to pass the Exam. Therefore, when I actually went to the Exam at Oxford, it was just like doing another lesson with Marcelle. No result yet, but I have confidence that I passed.

Our son enjoyed his first term at Alliance Francaise at St. Margarets. However, other students registered for the second term (who had not taken the first term) and this filled the class before we could register. Although I know that other students were also left out of the second term, they would not set up a second class. We were told that it did not make good business sense for them to add a second class. This seems both stingy and short-sighted to me. Stingy because they are supposedly educating young people and should be vested in their progress. Short-sighted because they would have had my son in their class for another two years, but now not at all.

I have studied for two years now at the Alliance Française d’Oxford and have thoroughly enjoyed the classes. What I would pick out as different for me from courses I have followed at other providers is the superb teaching which is focussed, enthusiastic and very up to date; and second the class size, which for me has been 8 maximum, - often around 6, which allows lots of participation. Also AF Oxford takes great care to group the classes according to similar ability levels. I shall certainly be continuing for a third year.

Excellent French lessons for teens. The sessions are really thoughtfully created by Julie, a very inspiring and encouraging teacher. Besides the brilliant language teaching she introduces a wide range of French culture in a very engaging way. We are very glad to have found it!

I approached Alliance Francaise d'Oxford because I have a French exam soon - very soon! They quickly introduced me to Marcelle who is a native French speaker and an experienced teacher.

My lessons with Marcelle were both enjoyable and helpful. She focussed on my weaknesses (there were a few to chose from!) and gave me advice on exam technique. Her particular strength is that she is encouraging. She did correct my errors but did so in a way which was supportive rather than intimidating. I would finish each lesson aware of the progress which I had made rather than focussing solely on the number of mistakes.

I would highly recommend Marcelle as a teacher and would be very happy to continue with my lessons with her once I have recovered from my exam.
