I am absolutely disgusted in the manner in which a male teacher has been able to discriminate against my daughter at this college time and time again even after writen complaints it would seem a this certain teacher is allowed to talk inappropriately to young lady's and yet nothing seems to be done at all in regards to his behaviour so if you have a daughter that's going to attend this college I would be very mindfull that unprofessional behavior seems to be tolerated towards young lady's in the course of ncfe cache technical level 3 certificate/diploma in childcare and education and to top it off the man in question teaches the units relating to safeguarding and equality and diversity

I booked and paid for a fire fighting and PST update course which they then canceled on short notice so I had to find somewhere else quickly, before going back to sea. It's been four months and I still haven't got a refund of of the £450 I paid. Stay away!

-After I posted this review someone from the college contacted me and after a while my money was returned! Therefore I have amended my review to 2 stars.

In the past I have done an IT course at this college. It is horrible, the canteen does not cater for those of us who suffer with allergies and there is no place to go between classes. Even the library is rubbish, where are the books for students to enjoy reading as opposed to just learn from them?

All that aside, now I am older I was thinking of returning to study animal care, only to find that subject is no longer taught here. Unless you wish to work in hospitality, building or engineering or with computers this is not the college for you.

I wasn't enjoying my course for a number of reason. I was on P&D level 2 i had bad experiences with this course but not only that also the younger students and lack of basic support from tutors and staff. After a month of being unhappy I spoke with student services saying I feel like quitting the course i told them the reasons as to why this was and they seemed very supportive at first saying things should have been different and that extra support should've been in place that wasn't. They then tried to pressure me into a catering course yet i said i have zero interest in the catering course as thats not what i deal in, I wanted to focus on trade work and construction courses. They said to me come in tomorrow and we will speak more about this then. I was there next day hoping to resolve this, but as soon as i was there i felt like they were not impressed to see me there, hoping i might just let this all go. Treating me like im a burden to them. I was passed on to person after person having to explain the problems repeatedly to persons that couldn't even help me, being directed to the wrong people over again. They mentioned a couple times about arranging a meeting with the tutors but this never materialized, i wanted clarification from east coast college that they were going to improve the course. This didn't happen for me because it got worse.
I had final talks with the student safe guarding woman at student services and some guy called John i think supposedly connected to construction, they explained to me that i was too "mature" for the course that they recommend me to do a apprenticeship instead. They assured me this was the right option for me that I should've done this sooner. They made it out that were was endless apprenticeship options out there, I was open to various trades mainly decorating and plumbing. They really sold it too me, said for me to go to ECC website check out there apprenticeship vacancies and to speak to GY campus regarding this. They told me if im happy to take the apprenticeship option they will take me off the course, as they made out it was a no-brainer i said id take the apprenticeship option therefore i was off the course.

When at GY this was a very different story, the woman at apprenticeships department tell me that the vacancies on the ECC website are not actual apprenticeship vacancies, but for people who have already been taken on as an apprentice for a company, so these were useless to me. We then searched on the gov website and there are no P&D apprenticeships in the area at all, closest was 197 miles away. Same goes for plumbing closest was in Nottingham. The woman told me that its rare for P&D apprenticeships to come up as most are small companies and self employed. I felt completely mugged off by lowestoft college, they withheld information and gave me misleading and false information that stopped me from making an informed decision. Now im stuck with absolutely nothing, no course, no apprenticeship nothing! Yeah this is how they treat the students, question them they get rid off you. Its shocking the way i was treated especially since i have learning disabilities which they were aware of, which means they just don't care for you no matter what your personal situations might be, for as long as you keep questioning them and voicing that you're unhappy with the college, bearing in mind they are a business more than anything.
I blame myself for being naive and not being more skeptical but i had no reason not to trust them after all they are suppose to be the experts right? I'm a very private person but i had to make this public to expose East coast college so it doesn't happen to anyone else, especially someone with learning disabilities. I will be making a formal complaint to manager of east coast college, I really didn't want to but you drove me to it!

Question everything and be wary. This is the generation of ass covering they wont admit their mistakes. Scum bags! I will make sure no one of my family attends your colleges.
