Patsy worked with our son for a year prior to his GCSE's, to help him overcome education and emotional barriers associated with his dyslexia and autism.

Pasty tailored her teaching precisely to his needs, building upon his strengths in critical reasoning and particular interests, explaining assessment expections clearly, practicing written work together and providing constructive feedback. She kept her lessons enjoyable, interjecting humor and focusing upon of examples that could fire his imagination.

Patsy's support was critical to him achieving the GCSE results he wanted for both English Language and Literature. Beyond that Patsy helped him to rebuild his sense of self worth and overcome feelings of inadequacy, which had a hugely positive impact on his overall emotional wellbeing. I cannot begin to recommend Patsy highly enough. When we first got in touch with Patsy we'd recently found out that our son had a very high IQ, but was probably autistic too. We hadn't realised, maybe because he's not too unlike me! His school was not seeing his potential, and after the Covid lockdown decided to change his school, but he could only start in year 10. We didn't want him to return to the environment where he was deemed as failing, it wasn't good for his confidence.

So, we asked Patsy to help him see where his strengths and weaknesses lay. Over the last 8-9 months we've seen him flourish and gain confidence in every way, and I know that the relationship he build (virtually) with Patsy is a big part of that.

We built the time up to 2 hours a week, and I think he will start his new school far ahead of where he would have been if he'd stayed in what was a poor learning environment for him. He now states he wants to be a writer - this is despite writing being deemed his weakest area, as his handwriting is his biggest disability, he literally is unable to write anything legibly.

I cannot thank Patsy enough for her patience with him, for helping him grow to the young man he is now. Never once did he complain about having to learn, she made it interesting to him, even though she also managed to squeeze in plenty of curriculum stuff.
She also took the time and effort to research which books/poets etc, his new school would be studying in the coming academic year. He'll be ahead when he starts. My only worry now is that he'll be so ahead he'll be bored ?
