Been coming here since I was a little girl, it's so nice to visit regularly now with my own children too! Still as lovely as I remember. The beach at Silverdale is often quiet, clean and very tranquil. Great spot for walking the dogs, letting the kids play and watching the sun set. Skies are always dramatic here, as is the windswept coastline and hidden caves. Local shops, pubs and cafes are great too, making it the perfect spot for a wander out of an evening or over the weekend.

What lovely secluded beach. It has a cave also. The mudflats are a bit dangerous to venture too far out and if you do check the tides before going out there. I had love walks around there. Walked up to the jenny point which is just a ma made causeway. but worth visiting also Gibraltar Farm where you can buy ice cream from their own parlour. they also have milk dispenseing machine obviously not been through the normal system you buy at supermarkets but great. Label on bottles explains in more detail.

DO BE AWARE OF THE QUICK SAND ON THIS BEACH WHEN WEATHER HAS BEEN BAD ALSO.

We had to turn back after about a 40 minute walk as it was quite intense.

However bar that it is a beautiful beach
Very quiet
Not many people
Some very nice walks around the area.

This is an excellent area for walking either along the coast or inland from Arnside to Silverdale. There seem to be footpaths everywhere. It is very scenic and rural. Arnside Knott has great views NSEW and is littered with footpaths. It feels enchanted with Yew and Juniper Oak Beech and Hazel in abundance.
It is easily accessed by rail or from M6 junction 35.

Very lovely gardens and grounds, the only reason I haven't given 5 stars is because I struggled to park so I could take a stroll around the grounds, but once I did find parking the walks themselves were lovely and amongst deer and sheep and pheasants... A real wild life dream, and non of it seems bothered by people either. Dotted all along the metal fence are stumps of old trees long cut down and their size is beyond belief. The house itself is very stately and stunning and the entire place as a whole is postcard perfect.
The "paths" however are only tracks on grass, so on rainy days it will be muddy and slippy.

Out of the way. Quiet, like up in the mountains quiet. The roads are a bit narrow so you have to be a bit brave driving in - unless you go by rail. Cute station. Fantastic walks and everywhere seems to be dog friendly.

Great walk from the caravan park near Silverdale. Started near Arnside Tower then at the B road went into National Trust, walked up the bridleway to cross road, turned right & followed the footpath all the way to Arnside slip way, walked along the beach for as far as we could then up limestone bank footpath to another caravan park, public footpath back to cross road, down the bridleway (bought half dozen free range eggs from farm honesty box) through the farm, back up past the tower & back to base. Excellent walk, decent July weather, great views. Well worth it.
