I joined Barnet and Southgate College 4 years ago and recently left to move onto university. I can honestly say with open heart that I had a truly amazing and meaningful time here. The tutors gave me hours of their time to assist me with both my academic work and my mental health. I became far better at exams, coursework, and my confidence grew. I stepped out of the college a different person and wouldn’t be where I am now without their support.

I would highly recommend this college.

If your in yr11 and planning to go this college for A levels I’m just warning you guys but the teaching may not be the best. A lot of these teachers leave and go work for other schools which can kinda affect your grades. Plus the new teachers are not as good as the old one. I understand that if you want to achieve the best grades it comes from you but teaching is also an important factor in helping student understand the content. If your a person that wants your work that you done at home to be marked by the teachers, most teachers just don’t want you bringing extra work as they just can’t be asked. Jus go sixtform for any year 11 student that finished gcse if you don’t want to put your alevels at risk 😹

This college mistreats certain students, especially those with strong personalities. The Head of Health and Social Care targets these students, bullying them by making them feel uncomfortable and using underhanded tactics against them.

Excellent Creative Media department with wonderful teachers. Taking English and maths here isn’t too great though if I’m being honest.

I withdrew from level three due to challenges surpassing my university experience, especially as a person with dyspraxia. Despite filing a complaint, I felt dismissed. Peers praised the teacher, but I sensed an unexplained dislike. No chance to catch up after withdrawal compounded my disappointment. I believe I deserved a two-week opportunity. Suggestions to take a level two, despite meeting level three criteria, felt insulting. A more considerate approach, given my illness, would have been appreciated. 🤔

I have attended this college for two years I am out today. During my time here the teachers are over worked not paid enough and on the last day work is marked so late that you will stress over it thinking if you have made it into university. The learning arrangement for students with special needs are questionable as they can't forward documents/diagnosis to the higher education of your choice and if you do not have paperwork they will not help you get it.
