Such a lovely shop with lots of local produce as well as caved aged cheddar cheese, in cheddar! Lots of flavours of cheese, lots of free samples of cheese and the cheese itself is delicious. Staff were very friendly here and you can even pay to see inside, and watch them make the cheese. Definitely worth going if you are in the charade area.

The Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company is an absolute gem and a must-visit when in Cheddar. We were truly captivated by the rich history of this place – the very heart of where Cheddar cheese originated. Watching the traditional cheesemaking process and learning about the craft added so much depth to the experience.

The visit to the shop was a delight in itself. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the cheese tasting was an absolute highlight. The quality of the cheese is exceptional – from the smooth and creamy varieties to the cave-aged Cheddar with its rich, complex flavor. We couldn’t resist taking some home!

If you appreciate history, craftsmanship, and excellent cheese, this is the perfect place to visit. A truly memorable experience that combines tradition, taste, and a beautiful setting in the stunning Cheddar Gorge. Highly recommended!

Really recommended to get the tickets to visit the cheese making facilities. All the process is visible through the glass along with video explanations. Learning about manual Cheddar making process was very interesting. In the shop, you get to taste the various types of cheeses.

Nice little cheddar cheese factory for a weekend getaway🧀 You can come back to watch different cheese making processes for as many times as you wish within the day. Lots of cheese options to sample and buy in the shop.

An excellent place to visit, and IMHO a necessary one. We booked tours, which allowed us access to the cheddar manufacturing process. See attached photos. The visit was 'necessary' since this company claims to be the only one manufacturing Cheddar cheese IN Cheddar!
The store had a tasting bar, where we (and many other tourists) were able to sample any of their cheeses as much as we liked. The vintage and extra mature Cheddar were excellent - very strong. The tasting bar also had a beer-infused cheddar which I couldn't find on their online store. The taste was pretty good IMHO - if that isn't an excuse to visit personally, I don't know what is.

We were really looking forward to this experience which we enjoyed but wasn’t what we thought was gonna be. It sounded like you could see how cheese is made but you can just see part of the process through a glass and when we were there, (around 11.45)all we could see was some cheese in the bath. (They start making the cheese at 11 but allow people in from 11.30)There’s a corridor with some videos playing and some cheese making tools, that’s it. Not much.
In the shop ,some unhappy teenagers hand you tiny bits of cheese to try, looking like they’d like to be anywhere else but there, which is not the best. The cheese is good but not mind blowing to be honest.

Booked a VIP Tour with Nick at the Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company! He was so lovely & full of knowledge - it was a brilliant experience & so interesting! We even got to meet & chat to the cheese makers themselves & see various demonstrations, as well as try a whole selection of cheeses! Highly recommend if you're in the area & love cheese!!
