Leo did an awesome job of finishing my Strat’s aftermarket neck with an amber tint, nitrocellulose lacquer and some fret/setup magic, all for a very reasonable price. It looks absolutely stunning now and of course plays beautifully. Thanks Leo!

Took my Big Baby Taylor in that needed some TLC. Leo recommended some fret replacement and set up. I also asked him to repair a little damage around the sound hole. He said the time frame would be around 2 weeks and to my surprise he called and it was finished within a week!
The guitar looks almost brand new! It plays superbly. I couldn’t be happier.
The price was great and to be honest for the workmanship Leo provides it’s more than fair.
I can’t recommend Leo enough. A truely nice guy and a professional in his work. I will definitely be using him again in the near future for my other guitars. 10/10

I found Leo very personable and knowledgeable. He clearly has extensive experience of a wide range of stringed instruments. Leo quickly established what the action issue was with my mandolin and carried out bridge modifications to allow for more adjustment, both speedily and at a reasonable price. The result: a much more playable mandolin and a happy customer.
I’d recommend paying Leo a visit – but mind the potholes!

I took my Tele to Leo for a service and set up which was long overdue.
Leo has given me a new guitar back, this is the most perfect action you can have on a guitar and ten times better than it ever was.
I highly recommend Leo....his work is incredible and an absolute gentleman to deal with.The service was personal and Leo was meticulous in trying to understand what the issues were and how to approach the repair.

I have a stock Yamaha acoustic guitar (FS820) which I’ve been learning on for the better part of nine months now. I love my guitar and as I’ve learnt more about playing the guitar well, I realized that it’s important to have your guitar set up correctly. I had a good email correspondence with Leo and visited his work shop. The workshop itself is very impressive and you can see the skill that Leo has just from other projects that he has on display. Leo recommended adjusting my strings and three of my frets (in addition to fitting a button to the neck for my strap). When I came to pick the guitar up a few days later the difference was really surprising…it felt like a new and better quality instrument. The strings were easier to press and barring cords felt much more comfortable. Leo had also kindly oiled my fretboard and bridge which were both dry, which just rounded things off perfectly. I would have no hesitation in recommending him – he knows his instruments (not just guitar) and is genuinely passionate about the quality of his work.

3rd December 2020 Update

I've upgraded to a new Eastman guitar. Even though the guitar was prepared by the shop, it still wasn't set up as well as could be and more over there was a significant level of fret buzz. Leo quickly identified the various issues and with great care and attention adjusted the frets and setup to eliminate the fret buzz. The instrument is now playing beautifully and I feel I'm able to get the the best out of it relative to my own skill. Leo kindly changed by strings too for a better set which was greatly appreciated.

Being new to the area I did a Google Search and found Crossfield Stringed Instruments. From there I discovered that Leo has a wealth of knowledge on stringed instruments and the craft skills to bring the best out of them. I gave him two of my 15 year old Martin acoustics and he removed all of their fret buzz issues while also lowering the action to give me back better playability than when they left the factory.
That level of improvement takes someone at the top of their profession. Finding high quality workmanship can be a tall order today so if you need the best from your instruments Leo can provide it.

Leo had been recommended to me by a friend who had used him several times. My Fender Strat and Tele needed a long overdue service. My Strat, frets, pick up, volume pot and odd bits and pieces were fixed to my personal style. The tele had a complete lowering of the frets.
Both guitars are now brilliant beyond my expectations.
Leo is a nice man and certainly knows what he is doing.

Leo is fantastic, I has my custom shop Strat and Ibanez Jiva setup and changed from 9s to 10 gauge strings. He levelled all the frets and dressed them and made the action on both guitars perfect for me. I cannot recommend him highly enough, his work is worth every penny. Both guitars are completely different and one is 4x the price of the other, yet both were given exactly the same care and attention to the point where they both feel like they have been worked on by a master of their craft. I don't think I could trust anyone else to work on my guitars now. Not only is he a great luthier, he is also a great person. My partner dropped off my guitars to him and she doesn't play, yet he explained to her what work needed doing in a way that she understood and not in a condescending manner.
