Downside Nursery is an absolute gem! We are so grateful we found this fantastic family run nursery. We relocated from London and couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful and caring nursery to transition to so smoothly. From first contact Sophie, the nursery manager, was so helpful and responsive and supported both my son and our family to settle in so well. The staff are so caring and foster a real nurturing environment which helps the younger ones to settle into the junior room and carries through into the senior room which prepares them brilliantly for their next step to school. It’s testament to Sophie and Krys that all the staff have been with the nursery for number of years which also adds to the supportive environment and real family feel you get when you are there. They have a fabulous outside space with huge playground, lots of fun climbing equipment, a pond, cars, trikes and a playing field - this was a real hit with my son and he was always so excited to get to nursery! They put on an impressive Christmas show and a brilliant sports day which is fun for all the family and a lovely way to celebrate the end of the school year. They work hard to prepare the children so well for school, they have a programme of work with planned activities the children can chose to get involved and encourage learning through play. I was so impressed with my little ones development at nursery and his ability to count, recognise letters, sound out the phonics and write simple words. This has given him such a head start with school this year and helped him to settle in to the routine so well. I couldn’t recommend Downside highly enough. We’ve made friends for life and I am looking forward to being back with my second as soon as he is 2! Thank you so much to Sophie, Krys and the fantastic Downside team!

A truly lovely playschool with a very experienced team who have a genuine affinity with toddlers. A kind, thoughtful, and completely trustworthy early years setting with a beautiful and spacious outdoor playground area. Sophie, Chrys, Angela, Sue and Sally all stand out as exceptionally connected with the children, offering them endless enthusiasm and real connection. I feel very lucky my child started their learning journey here. There is a good spread of activities- indoor and outdoor - and a happy community of children and parents. Thank you to the whole team!

We absolutely loved our year and a half with Downside Nursery and our daughter really flourished during her time there; academically, in her confidence and independence. Sophie, Kris and the whole team supported our daughter getting settled and took it at the gentle pace that was right for us. This meant so much and through this we knew that this was absolutely the right place! They have each child and the family at the heart of what they do, and the fact that the same members of staff are there every/most days means we all got to know each other well and my daughter felt so comfortable and happy. The whole pre school feels like such a lovely community for the kids and the parents too.

Since leaving and starting school, we can see how well Downside have helped us prepare our daughter for the structure of the days, the excitement for learning and in her literacy and numeracy.

We couldn’t recommend Downside more, and we are so grateful for our time there!

Downside Nursery is a family run, caring environment where they take the time to nurture and engage with every child on an individual level. They have great communication with the parents and an organic level of respect and love with each of the children that attend. Not only did my two boys attend by my sister and I also attended as children and the experience was as wonderful for my boys as it was for us. Downside Nursery is a wholesome, well rounded and caring nursery and has done wonders to prepare my boys for their future. We are devastated to leave for school and will always be grateful for the educational start they gave our boys. Couldn’t recommend any more highly.

Downside preschool and all of the staff have been absolutely incredible! They are nurturing from start to finish and have a very kind caring approach this has helped our daughter flourish, she has been with downside from the age of 2 and a half and has now started big school which they have helped prepare her for and their efforts have most certainly shon through, they have built her confidence so much, they have always been at the end of a call for any advice or worries I had, I feel not only has my daughter gained an education we have built friends for life, there isn’t anywhere else we would send her little sister and look forward to seeing you all again in a few years, we miss you already thank you so much

We moved to Cobham a couple of years ago and Downside nursery is one of the reasons why we have settled in so well into the community. The nursery has a unique warm “family” style atmosphere with a great sense of community. Our daughter settled in straight away as did our son who couldn’t wait to follow his sister in joining Downside. The owner and manager is passionate and dedicated in providing the best care and education for all the children. She is supported by an amazingly talented team who have been consistent through the time we have been at Downside. Both of our children have grown into confident, caring and are happy little people, well prepared for the next stage of school.
