I'll have been here for 9 months in September.
It's a great school for improving your English. If you have an unfortunate experience with your host family, the accommodation staff are very understanding and will listen to your concerns and find a good solution. The academic staff are also very helpful and resolve any issues quickly.

The only disappointing thing was the tour to Cambridge with EF staff. There were 18 students on the tour, but it was also the tour guide's first visit there. She was inexperienced, got lost many times, and ended up asking other tourists for directions.
Before the break, she gave students the wrong meeting point and sent a different plan via WhatsApp during lunch, causing a lot of confusion. After this experience, I decided not to join EF tours anymore.

However, apart from the EF activities, when it comes to studying English, it’s a nice place with good teachers and friends.

The best strong advantage is the location. It's located in the center of the city, so you can enjoy sightseeing and stunning views anytime you want. There are also many markets near the school where you can enjoy a variety of food with friends.

I am currently completing a course at this language school in London, and overall, it was a great experience, but there are a few areas that could use improvement.

To start with the positives, the staff (my teacher is Charlotte, love her!!) here are incredibly friendly and always willing to help. The academics team really tries their best to make sure that students are learning and progressing at a good pace. They’re approachable and open to questions, which made the classroom experience very enjoyable. The activities offered by the school are also a big highlight—there's always something fun planned, like cultural trips around London, social events, and more. It’s a fantastic way to meet people and explore the city, which I absolutely love!

I was lucky enough to be placed with a great host family who were welcoming and supportive. However, I know a few other students who weren’t as fortunate, so the host family placements can be hit or miss.

On the downside, the facilities at the school could really use some attention. The toilets, in particular, were often broken, which was a bit frustrating during long days of classes. The building itself could benefit from some updates and maintenance.

As for the price, I think it's fair for the experience you're getting—especially considering it’s in London, a city that offers so much in terms of culture and things to do outside of class.

All in all, I would recommend this school if you’re looking for a friendly atmosphere, engaging activities, and the chance to immerse yourself in London life. Just be prepared for a few inconveniences and some bumps on the road!

I had an excellent experience at EF London! The school is very well organized to help you improve your English, and I was lucky to have Professor Salman, who is an amazing teacher—engaging, patient, and truly dedicated to his students' progress.
To get the most out of your stay, especially on a short-term course, I highly recommend speaking only in English with other students. This makes a huge difference in your learning experience.
However, my experience with my host family was disastrous. It really feels like a game of chance, and unfortunately, I had a terrible experience, which negatively impacted my stay. If I had to do it again, I would definitely avoid the host family option.
Instead, I strongly recommend the Lewisham residence. Yes, it is more expensive, but it’s a safe and reliable option to ensure a pleasant and comfortable stay.
Overall, EF London is a great place to improve your English and meet people from all over the world, but I highly advise choosing the residence over a host family if you want to avoid unnecessary stress.

The campus itself is really clean and well managed. The lessons there are engaging and the teachers highly encourage us to interact with students who are from other countries! I chose this destination because it was my dream to see Big Ben in real life and I did not regret choosing EF to make my dream come true

I can confirm the negative reviews and have also had a dissatisfied stay during my time at EF London.

- Host families: not with British locals but most likely with foreigners. Often in zone 5 and dangerous areas e.g. Croydon. Small rooms, British housing quality and standards are very desirable and nowhere near central European standards. I was also told not to shower everyday and was given low quality food. In my first host family I had to share a bunk bed with a 10 year old. I had no wardrobe, space to leave my things or privacy. I changed my host and came to a bitter single lady who did not like foreigners in her poor excuse of a house. I then had enough and moved to the "residence". Second host "mum" told me EF pays them a tenner per day, so this is a budget you should not expand for them.
- The Residence: I stayed in Large Court, Admiral Walk, no idea if they still have this one. I was forced to share a tiny room with 4 other women, we were 8 in total in the flat. A catastrophe, no privacy, survival of the fittest. The cleaning was done weekly but in all the time, the bedsheets got changed but never the duvets.
- The School: a disaster of a building and not fit for so many people
- The course: had intensive course booked. During my first week I got assessed with a grad 6 out of 7, so my school English was already enough and not much room for me to improve. The quality of the teaching is on a kindergarten level. Many years after my EF stay I did a TEFL course (teaching English as a foreign language) in addition to my degree. Basically all EF teachers follow TEFL teaching methods (playing games ect). There is no academic level.
- My teachers back then were lovely, not their fault how the organisation is run
-EF staff: rude, unfriendly, arrogant, zero communication after the payments. They won't help you onsite.

If you really want to learn English, book yourself into a nice apartment hotel or Airbnb for 12 weeks or travel around Britain.
