The IT department will very rarely help you. They ask for a ticket to be able to see you, which always ends with them saying they will be over and they almost never do (in my experience and others I’ve known). They don’t seem to under that if the WiFi doesn’t work for students…we can’t do our work and it ends up being a problem.

I honestly don't understand the point of this college.

Courses I'm interested in are advertised but can't book online, only "Get in touch".
I tried to get in touch, no reply.
I walked in at the student information center 3 times, thinking it was a mistake, nobody can answer me. Only vague words "I take your details, they'll be in touch".

Admission team doesn't even greet you when you walk in there, treating you like a nuisance.

I emailed the 3 heads of departments of Art, including the person that will run the course, no answer.

The course I'm writing about is the "Stone Carving".

Honestly, this is a paid for course, if you can't even bother sorting out the bookings of courses, why are you even opened?

I can't even imagine what actual students are going through.

Young boys and ladies, go learn elsewhere.

During my time in this college, I was accused of racism, berated by staff for sticking up for myself, spoken to like I was a cockroach for making the tiniest mistake. Observed creepy teachers and obvious power trippers.

This isn’t a good college, if you can afford the travel and expenses, choose elsewhere. This whole place is corrupted, especially art, business and maths and English.

I was also told that if I came here, I’d get my GCSE’s of which I had missed in secondary due to extreme bullying. Only to be told casually nearing the end of my time there that I was never going to get them despite being told numerous times I was going to.

I had to tell the head of maths and English about a certain teacher favouring the more popular and disruptive students and that he had showed odd behaviour to some students. She clearly had disciplined him because when I went back to class then next day, he had it out for me as if I had an invisible bullseye on my back, choosing every opportunity to make me feel small and like a rodent.

As for the accusation of racism.

It was my first day, introduction, it was extremely busy with people everywhere, I was paired with a person of ethnic descent. (This is important later on) who when his friends came over, he asked if he could leave me to hang out with them, having only shown me the main hall.

I of course agreed, I really, honestly didn’t mind. But of course having not been shown the college, there’s no way I would’ve made it back.

When I was obviously late, the teachers asked what happened, I said that I was ditched early on in the show around and that I didn’t mind, but don’t expect me to somehow find my way back easily.

They then accused me of being racist instead of holding this guy responsible for leaving a first year student alone and not showing him around.

I of course denied it and was outraged at their accusations. They drilled and drilled and drilled me until I eventually had to stay silent. I was utterly disgusted and was treated like a third rate child in a group of grown people.

I can promise you there’s no ulterior motive, I was accused of racism out of nowhere, if you can. Try not to end up in the same situation as me, business course are full of moron teachers who if they were successful in business, wouldn’t be there.

Same goes for the art class, as I’ve never seen more power hungry, unhelpful, nit-picky and unqualified teachers in my life.

(I should give additional context.

When I say they did not hold this guy accountable, I meant they treated him as if he was a toddler due to his race, that he didn’t know what he was doing and that he didn’t know any better. Yet he was fluent in the English language, clearly comfortable with it and had clearly lived here his whole life.

I find that in the reverse, pretty racist and insulting. Just because he was ethnic, he was treated like a clueless baby, that he didn’t know what he was doing because ethnic people are out of their element or whatever they were insinuating. When in actuality, he was quite intelligent, had a extremely strong grasp on the English language and had clearly spent his entire life here)

Ivve complained to the staff numerous times, nothing changed. My son who has autism and keeps himself to himself, and is also a gentle man. Used to use your gym,. a guy called master panny who is an apparent boxing trainer uses the gym for his sessions,. The gym is just about big enough for its studnets and staff, let alone boxing training. This man master panny, was so rude to my son 4 times. My son likes to stretch after his run, and would use the stretching area to stretch ( funny that right ). This boxing trainer master panny uses this very small area , ( approx 5 x 6 feet ) to train his boxing. and said to my son '' this is my area'' in a rude tone. not polite. this apparently has happened to other students who used to use the gym ( according to one of the gym staff ). and now hardly any students use the gym, as many do not feel safe. The outcome? we will not use the gym while this boxing trainer called master panny uses it. He isnt a member of the college, nor is he staff. ( apparently he is cozy with one of the admin staff / teaching staff at the college, hence he gets a good deal to use the gym )

I don’t recommend the 6th form here. If you want to do A-Levels, just go to an ordinary 6th form. This college doesn’t have the standards, resources, environment, or organisation to provide an A-Level education for anyone aiming to go to a good university. There are some great teachers, but most subjects are lacking (based on my classmates’ and I’s experience), with multiple subjects being left without a dedicated teacher for MONTHS.

As for the main college, I spent a year doing a T-Level there before I joined the 6th form. It was equally as bad; incredibly poor organisation in terms of work placement and I basically just had to teach myself the content. I don’t recommend going here, maybe unless you never plan on going to university, and just want a level 3 qualification to get a job with. Even then, it’s still not great.

This college is 20 minutes away from Canterbury east station and probably 25 minutes away from Canterbury west station. There are two colleges and a nursery school as well. There is basketball court, gym etc around the college. The college buildings are widely spread out.

Not a great experience, bad communication from tutors. My son has wasted a year at college, he was told the course he was doing wasn’t funded anymore, so either pay privately to finish course and travel to Medway or get an apprenticeship, which probably won’t happen as they’re hard to get (as told by tutor). Most of time tutors not there, taught by people who don’t even teach the subject. Not informed by college on GCSE results , collect them ? Being posted ? Emailed ? Who knows !!
