“Very dependable, super reliable, going over and beyond for their workers”. This is my experience with Laura and Jen of Empowering Learning, Thornaby office. They worked with me closely and were very assuring till I got a job. I came to the country 14 months ago for my Masters and couldn’t get much work around, joined a couple of other agencies who also tried their best but Empowering Learning is that one agency that changed everything for me. Laura would patiently explain things I didn’t understand and Jen was encouraging when I was still trying to get any work. The best part is when you don’t feel snubbed or like a burden when ringing for work. I hate to bother people and I respect procedures and chains of command but they’re so accessible anytime and communication with them is so easy. I feel valued with them and so I automatically and easily give my 200% because they’re 100%!

Did I say I also have free access to trainings that people would pay hundreds of pounds for? that was mind blowing for me.

They’ve shown me opportunities where I didn’t know and work opportunities which I didn’t know existed.

I joined this agency not long ago, but it feels like I have been part of this family for years. I must commend my agency consultants Laura Peacock, Jennifer Goodall and the Newcastle Office for their hard works. What an awful company. Everyone knows that supply teachers working through agency are very rarely reliable but this was the worst experience I have ever had as a cover manager working with many supply teacher agencies.
I work as a cover manager at one of the secondary schools and I was provided with a supply teacher that not only did not show up several times at work but what is worse is that on the last day of that teacher’s working day he did not show up at all, not letting the agency know until later on in a day.

Therefore agency decided to simply email me once the school has already started to let me know he won’t be in. The agency always rang me regarding any other queries but when they knew how bad the situation was they email me once the first lesson has already started. What’s more the email went to spam so the class was unsupervised until 11am when I finally found out. What a serious safeguard issue!
The teacher himself was not reliable, either feeling sick or having interviews elsewhere most of the time he was supposed to work. He claimed to be an experienced teacher but responded to a student that he isn’t knowledgeable enough to answer their questions just to deliver powerpoint! Considering the amount of money they ask to pay for him is an absolute joke
I think this shows luck of taking responsibility of their employees and accountability for their actions. I have received an explanation that they believed email was enough to inform me about teacher’s absence.
What a joke. I don’t recommend for any school to work with this agency.

Sally, Jordan and Callum have been amazing throughout. I was so nervous to start on supply as my confidence had been knocked with my former job but Sally supported me through my application, interview and references.

Once I was successful, Jordan especially has been amazing getting me long term supply in an amazing school and contacting me when other jobs come up (whilst taking my own commitments into consideration). Callum has also been great with his communication when offering jobs to me. Thank you so much for helping me get out of my dark hole and allowing me to find my self again.

Having worked with several agencies as an MFL and SEND teacher I can confidently say that it will be very rare for one to find a better agency which delivers, does not entice one into fake promises just to get one to register and is very efficient.
