A brilliant place to go, has a small museum of all sorts of items new and old to view made by past and new blacksmiths including the owner of Fransham Forge Nigel Barnett. He does courses there for people to learn this wonderful trade mainly on Fridays and weekends. You can stop in the Shepherd Huts for a small amount in the woods he has next to the forge, and he has built a lovely shower/toilet facility for people. It was lovely and clean considering your in the middle of no where, the huts all had electric, lights, beds were very comfy and all very pretty. Everything you would need. There is also a train type carriage with table, chairs, cooker, fridge, plates ,cutlery, etc etc oh even a microwave. I believe everything was thought of. The huts are all in the woods and little walkways around to various sculptures, brilliant. Even the ducks were sociable. A true experience. Thankyou for a lovely time with my 2 grandsons Nigel and his crew. The boys loved all the different types of machines as well. We will all be visiting again soon.Below you can see what you get if you tell a blacksmith that you need a toilet roll holder 😀

Great day on MIG welding with Nigel. Went from total novice to someone who would be confident tackling projects at home. The majority of the day was hands-on practice, with Nigel setting us various tasks as the day progressed, each supported by a story or two from his past exploits. Very entertaining.

We visited Fransham Forge as a family this week. Nigel and the team made us feel really welcome and Nigel took the time to give us a demonstration which the kids really enjoyed. The sculpture garden is a lovely place to wander around even in a wet day.
I really enjoyed looking at all the old tools in the forge (I'm not talking about Nigel!).

So impressed with Nigel’s honesty an what a real nice man he is his work excellent not to mention the the high end clients he has and the work done for them an the work he does for charities which he’s dedicated his own time to but he’s always snowed under with work because of this but he does warn about this so don’t expect a walk in walk out with your order service after all he is an artisan an a real good one

Booked for my grandson and myself. We had never done any forging before. It was an absolutely amazing experience and a very good laugh. We both walked away with our items that we had forged and were well excited about what we had done. Thank you to Nigel for sharing his knowledge and experience with us and making the day an absolutely fantastic day.

An absolutely delightful day, plenty of making, learning, chatting and experiencing!

Nigel is a top bloke, language is probably a bit salty for the easily offended but he's got a heart of gold!

He's also got enough stories from a life not wasted to keep the day from having dull moments while you wait for the next iron to heat up in the forge. Would recommend to anyone.

Had an epic day at the forge with Nigel on a one day course.

Such a knowledgeable and friendly chap - he had an amazing amount of patients and a few stories to share!

Made some really cool trinkets and did far more than I expected in a day. Would definitely consider coming back for more time in the forge.
