Jamie is a likeable bloke and he explains jazz and combines it with blues in a way that makes learning jazz a lot more understandable and enjoyable for a jazz beginner like me. I always watch his YouTube lessons and his channel is one of the only channels I've subscribed to and support, which is no mean feat because I don't give my subscription or support easily, there are only about 2 or 3 guitar lesson channels on the whole of the net which I do support! He presents information in a clear, concise manner and his videos are enjoyable to watch.

Great online guitar lessons. Jamie really knows his stuff and has a real passion for Jazz and Blues Guitar . His lesson are very helpful and give great insight into the technique and history of jazz and blues music. His unassuming manner, knowledge, and skill make him a great teacher. Jamie Holroyd has offered me so much information about the layout of the fret board. He Presents all scales and chords in easy to read language and images of the neck that are readily understand.

The tabbed passages he offers and videos display his prowess over the small group of top "online" generous teachers. Jamie is truly a highly skilled an knowledgeable player who seems to stand above the others offering authentic hip jazz in both very sophisticated and also very effective simpler patters that keep the jazz authentic, more so than the other similar web teachers. Jamie is excellent jazz guitar teacher who I can recommend very highly.

When I first started lessons, although I had been playing for a while I was still at a very rudimentary stage and Jamie encouraged me and gave me hope that I could play jazz. He was very quick to realise where I was and give me a few manageable steps to get me up to working on jazz standards. A lot of our work has been around particular songs working on related scales and improvisation. I like this approach as it makes me feel that playing the music is within reach.

I am now studying towards grades alongside working on songs, as a way of consolidating my knowledge, technique and musicality. Jamie has been knowledgeable about various grade systems available and we have been able to explore a number of options. What seemed at first sight daunting has with his help begun to seem manageable.

Jamie is always positive, even when things aren’t going well he praises my “good work” and helps keep up my morale. Last year I had a major set back due to a cerebral haemorrhage, and Jamie has helped me pick up the pieces such that now I am playing again near to my previous level. There is no way I could have done this without Jamie’s help and encouragement. He always seems to set goals and exercises at exactly the right level, to be a stretch but not so hard as to discourage.

Looking back I have learned a lot about jazz and developed my technique and repertoire during my time studying with Jamie. As a bonus lessons are occasionally peppered with a sample demonstration of Jamie’s playing which is always a treat to listen to, and an inspiration for what can be done on the jazz guitar.

It's been a pleasure to have a Jamie Holroyd as a mentor (indirectly speaking) for long time. A couple of years ago, I enrolled at the University to study music, and every subject assigned to me, I always check on web site. I am from Venezuela and it´s difficult to find information on jazz guitar in Spanish, nevertheless, all lessons explained by Jamie are easy to understand and follow. I highly recommend his classes. I have not have the opportunity to read his book but I am really sure is pedagogically friendly.

Jamie Holroyd is a good guitarist and guitar tutor, who I have found to be very reliable and organised in his teaching. When teaching he breaks things down into small sections so that you are able to understand them and get them under your fingers. After the lesson he documents what was taught in the lesson and what you need to take home and practice with full explanations.
