Lorna and her team were so professional and helpful from the outset; from setting up the initial consultation to the consultation itself.
When I arrived, with my son, for the appointment, Lorna was so welcomed and immediately put my son and I at ease. My son was invited to play, with a variety of toys and books, whilst Lorna engaged with him and played too, all the while listening and observing his speech, whilst making notes. My son really enjoyed himself; he has no clue that Lorna was analysing his speech - this meant that he felt relaxed throughout and could play whilst at ease. Lorna talked to me throughout explaining my son’s phonological process. At the end of the appointment, Lorna went my son’s sounds and speech in detail, explaining her observations. After the appointment, Lorna sent a very detailed and helpful full assessment. This was received the day after the appointment. A brilliant service - professional, reassuring and friendly.

My daughter attended speech therapy with Becka, who diagnosed her with verbal dyspraxia. Her weekly sessions have made such a difference to my daughter’s speech and in turn this has had such a positive impact on her self confidence and communication skills. Becka’s sessions were fun and engaging with lovely resources provided to use at home. Becka is friendly, caring and approachable. My daughter no longer needs sessions but does miss them and talks about them fondly. I would not hesitate to recommend!

We used ISLTs for an ASD assessment for our daughter, after being told the NHS waiting list was 4+ years. We were very anxious about putting our daughter through assessments, however the clinicians were very friendly, gave us lots of time and provided an abundance of toys to keep my daughter happy during the process. The report following the assessments was also extremely thorough and has helped us with our next steps in getting the correct help & support.

As a family we have been using ISLTS for a number of years with my oldest child and again now with my middle child. Lorna has been amazing with both, my three year old really enjoys his sessions and finds them really engaging, which shows in his progress. Amazing practice with the most wonderful staff, my little one has come on leaps and bounds since starting speech therapy at the practice last September. Our family can not thank Lorna enough her advice and help has always been so useful and deffinatley needed after such a tricky time using the NHS and not getting much help, we now have some where we can voice our concerns/questions and actually get some answers.

My daughter has received weekly SLT from ISLTs for 2 years, in that time she has learnt to attend to "now" and "next" boards, follow a routine, press buttons on her speech device, and even attempt some words. The SLTs have adapted their therapy to her needs expertly. Most importantly she enjoys herself, and we feel very supported and understood by ISLTS despite the complexities of my daughter's needs and the severity of her communication disorder. I would recommend ISLTs to anyone wanting professional, reliable, and genuine care and support for their family members' speech, language and communication needs.

We searched for a selective mutism specialist for my daughter for some time and by luck found the independent speech and language centre.

We have now been attending for over a year and this was the best decision we have ever made. Becca has supported my daughter and enabled us as a family to feel secure in the support that we provide to my daughter and enabled us all to deal with a difficult and unpredictable disorder.

Lorna is fantastic with our son. She quickly realised he is a gestalt language processor and tailored the sessions to give him tools for functional gestalts. Highly recommend ISLTS.
