Wow loved my visit the Leighton House. It's breathtaking. There is plenty to see thanks to the art exhibition and also the house. The cafe is lovely. If it's sunny you can eat your food in the garden. The gift shop has some cute things. It's near Holland Park so you can go for a walk afterwards.

Lord Leighton was arguably one of the premier artists of the Victorian period, and this place showcases not just his art, but also other highly regarded artists of his time. The true beauty of this house is not just in the paintings stored here, but in the house itself. The magnificent Qa’a (otherwise known as the Arab room) is definitely the main highlight, but each room is worth a second look. The devil is in the details!

Absolutely beautiful paintings (and a few of his sculptures) in a special setting - the artist's own home. They say it's 1 of 2 remaining homes of the 'artists circle' so that is amazing in and of itself. Not a far walk from Holland Park. An excellent stop to see history alive and art to cherish. Tickets are worth every penny knowing it goes to help preserve such talent.

Read about this place in a book so sought it out. Worth the £24 admission for the Arab Hall alone. It is nothing short of sublime. House has an accompanying shop and a nice looking cafe that leads into the garden. Well worth a visit.

This visit was purely a ‘well I might as well as I’m already here and it’s a good price to see both houses’ kind of situation. I specifically wanted to visit Sambourne House and bought the double ticket just to see what Leighton House had to offer afterwards. I was not disappointed. I’m not into art or artists, I like Victorian houses and nostalgia; however, this place has made me more interested in finding out about local artists and their works. This house is stunning and has such a sense of peace within. The garden was amazing too, I was lucky to visit on a sunny day in October.

My only negative was that it was recommended by Sambourne House to have lunch in the cafe at Leighton House. I got there at around 13:00/13:30 and there was absolutely nothing left to eat. I had to make do with a can of Coke and fresh air.

I would still go back again despite the lunch setback, I’ll take a sandwich next time!

A beautiful, well kept historic house. The interiors, Leighton’s art, two mini exhibitions on fashion and street photography in Paris during the same era and fascinating video on the history of the house and art scene in London/ Holland Park during Leighton’s life. A rich, immersive insight and experience. Free entry with a National Art Pass!

If you are going to both this and Sambourne house both, plan which one to start in based on when you want to stop in the cafe (at leighton house only). The two houses are a 9 minute walk apart.
Colorful and decorated with attention to detail and good taste. His artwork isn’t our favorite.
