If I could give Lowe's on Carter Street a 10, I absolutely would—but unfortunately, the rating system only allows for a 5! From start to finish, our experience at this restaurant for my partner’s birthday was nothing short of exceptional.

We were welcomed by warm, friendly faces and an atmosphere that couldn’t have been more perfect for a celebration. The menu offered exactly what we were hoping for: an elegant yet laid-back dining experience. This place strikes the ideal balance between fine dining and an inviting, casual setting—it’s truly the kind of spot where everyone can feel like they’re enjoying something special.

We were lucky enough to sample nearly the entire menu, paired with some incredible wines that complemented each dish beautifully. The food was absolutely outstanding, delivering on every level: flavor, presentation, and quality. It’s clear that this restaurant has mastered the art of creating a memorable experience. If every town had a place like this, finding a go-to spot for a great meal and a relaxing time would be a breeze.

A perfect 10 in my book, and without a doubt, I’ll be back for more.

So glad we decided to come here for a birthday lunch. The food was perfect. We couldn't fault anything. Friendly welcome and the chef came out to see how we liked everything. Serving staff were also very friendly and helpful. Will definitely come again. A local gem ❤️

I’d heard great things about Lowes since they first opened, and after finally visiting, I wish I’d gone sooner! The service was fantastic and the staff are so friendly and welcoming.

As for the food… wow. George, you truly know your craft. We had a starter and a main, and it really was exceptionally good. It’s not always easy to find a place that genuinely caters to vegetarians and vegans, so to have a quality meal like this was a real treat. The standout for me was the vegan buttermilk chicken alternative. I’ve tried a lot of plant-based meats over the years, but this was easily one of the best I’ve had.

To make an already fantastic experience even better, we were treated to a complimentary glass of bubbly, which was such a lovely touch. I already know we’ll be back again soon!

I first visited Lowes on Carter St on Valentines Day 2024 and was delighted with the whole experience. We subsequently had lunch, then dinner with various friends, attending every month almost without exception.
The cosy entrance and warm welcome, A genuine buzz to the venue, intimate and classy, the serving staff are independently minded and always of sincere, caring, pleasant disposition.
The food is always top notch, beautifully presented, delicious and interesting,
The owner George is incredible, he always comes to the table to provide, insight, advice and take an interest in the people dining. Nothing is too much trouble, he will ensure that everyone is completely satisfied with the food and service.
I've lived in Uttoxeter for 18 years and still cannot believe that we have (at last!) A genuinely brilliant Restaurant, where I am proud to take all our friends and family.
Food highlights include the best Sunday lunch, it is brilliant, the gravy is worth the visit alone!
I love the butter chicken and can never decide which dessert to have they are all always delicious.
When steak is on the menu, it has been perfect.
The drinks menu is very impressive. I enjoyed a gingerbread cocktail and a limited edition, top notch white wine from George's own personal collection.
I have tried to think of some critical points but after 14 visits I the last year I can't, and I can't wait to visit more in 2025.
The team are a credit to the town and they also lead the charitable effort at Christmas.

Wow! What a fantastic evening for our first time here. Wanted to try something a little different, and glad we did. A warm welcome on entrance, quickly seated and looked after from the get go. The atmosphere is cosy, and the food was delicious.

I opted for the vegan ‘wings’ as starter and the cauli alternative satay curry. By far the best vegan ‘wings’ I’ve had and I’ve been to a fair few vegan only joints.

George and the team have something special here. Proper independent, proper quality food and is clear why it’s so well rated.

Our first visit and we plan to return. Great welcome from start to finish by all of the staff, including the Chef. Food was superb and was hearty in portion size. Great selection of wines. Ambiance was just right and we're very happy to recommend
