Following a job offer in Japan, I had a year to build up a foundation in Japanese before moving to the county .
After an initial meeting to talk about my goal and expectation, Mariko-san recommended an hour long weekly lesson .
After a year of studying and a few months living in Japan, I can confidently say that Mariko-san is a great teacher and prepared me the best that was possible for my new life .
The lessons themselves always started with a free talk/conversation to put in practice all the material previously learnt followed by a study of specific grammar/vocabulary points mixed with exercises to learn how to use these new knowledges .
Mariko-san is great at adjusting the difficulty level, she always managed to keep the lesson challenging but not hard to the point that you feel overwhelmed.
In a couple of instances the topic of the lesson was changed on the fly based on specific questions I had on grammar points I had encountered outside of lessons .
On top of her friendly personality Mariko-san always tried to keep the lesson around subjects that I was interested in which really helps retaining your focus during lessons .

I would definitely recommend Mariko-san to anyone looking to learn Japanese!

My daughter has been having Japanese lessons with MM Japanese for just over two years. During this time, she has always received the best one to one tuition. Teacher and student have built a bond that has been invaluable, and the reason why (in my eyes) Scarlett has qualified for the Nirongho Cup TWICE in two years, winning her age category on her second attempt.
I would not hesitate to recommend Mariko to anyone wanting to learn Japanese. She has a wonderful quiet way about her, that is a joy to be around for the student, and parent. I am always informed of my daughters progress after every lesson.
