I am shocked by without clarification someone has said St Laurence Church discriminates against disabled people. I live an hour away from Church Stretton but I have visited St Laurence Church on many occasions just to be quiet and peaceful and I have attended some services too. I have limited mobility and often need to use my wheel chair. I have always found the church accessible and if anyone is there including clergy the entrance doors have been opened fully for me and help always cheerfully offered and given. During communion services the clergy always will go to people who find it difficult to walk or stand at the altar . This is a most friendly place and I would encourage anyone disabled or not to visit as I have done and I am sure you will be welcomed and feel the atmosphere of love in the place. The entrance into the church is flat and there is an accessible disabled toilet in the church building opposite the church’s main entrance. I also know that for those people who cannot physically attend this church there is an on line service every Sunday which can be accessed any time after too. What more can one ask for?

Don't just walk past this church. Take time to look inside at the roof construction and outside there is a sheela na gig above the sealed off door.

Warm, friendly welcoming church on a very damp Sunday morning.

"Churches have a responsibility to make sure that, as far as is reasonably possible, their buildings and activities are accessible to everyone." - And yet this church is more than happy to discriminate against those with disabilities.

The sculpture for St Laurence is truly beautiful..and a great if a little gruesome reminder of how he died.

St Laurence's Church has been modernised, no pews instead one is offered a comfortable chair. The entrance is impressive and one must compete for parking in the nearby streets.

Not the best venue for political hustings. The excitement of the night snuffed out by the pleas for politeness and then the vicar belting out his prayers. The net result was a contest without any passion. Hopefully sparks will really fly at the hustings in Oldbury, Handsworth and Smethwick later this week.
