I cannot thank Naomi, Ben and all the team at The Ghanaian Language School enough! They are simply wonderful. For years I dreamed of being able to string a sentence together in Twi - properly! I endured the social exclusion and laughter/humiliation that can occur as a result of not being able to speak a Ghanaian language fluently, among Ghanaian family (or even among other British 2nd generation Ghanaians, whose parents taught them their mother language). The lessons available at The Ghanaian Language School provide the building blocks to learning Akan, in a similar way to how I was taught English at home or at school as a young child. Learning the alphabet and grammatical structure to sentences and key vocabulary were crucial to my understanding of the language. The lessons were fun, interactive and the teachers provided encouragement not shame, which helped me and others to progress in our learning. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and as a result I can now speak and communicate on a deeper level with my family in Ghana and that has enriched our relationships. I would highly recommend The Ghanaian Language School to anybody who wants to learn a Ghanaian language from scratch, or improve on the basics of what they might already know.

The Ghanaian Language School provides excellent service to many people who want to learn about the culture and traditions of Ghana, and read, write and speak the languages. I gained some confidence and learnt a lot from the school. The classes and discussions are very engaging, interactive, inclusive and fun and I was provided with great resources to use in the sessions. I took the time to read my notes and practice the language between the sessions also.

There is a great sense of community with the school and I have gained friends too which is a bonus. I feel more proud of the Ghanaian culture now and I look forward to my next trip to Ghana.

The Ghanaian Language School are planning some new projects.
I am excited about seeing these come to life.
I thank the teachers and Directors for their passion and dedication over the years.

Good classes but poorly organised organisationally so countless delays in restarting classes with no commitment to actually starting the courses people have paid and planned ahead for.
