The architecture course offered by this university is... Odd.

Sure, the immense work load is exhausting and absolutely soul draining, but on top of this, the course director for Architecture made the revolutionary decision to force us to attend irrelevant and boring lectures that take away from the already limited free time we have ON TOP OF WORKING FROM 10AM TO 8PM!!!!

Terrible TERRIBLE student quality of life!!!

Complete waste of time and money. If I could give it no stars I would have done. Staff are disorganised and clearly do not care about the students. I’ve seen better organisation and teaching in a primary school. I have learnt more off of YouTube than I have at this uni, which is really sad. I’m Really disappointed with the lack of care and to add to that I received no support for my dyslexia even though I asked time and time again. I also reached out to the uni about my metal health as I was struggling with it at the time and I was given no support what so ever, and no one seemed to care. Worst experience ever! Would strongly not recommend UCA to anyone, find a better uni that can actually teach you something.

UCA has lots of great courses and the tutors are all artists (of sorts) themselves which creates a better learning system with the students.Everyone is very nice and welcoming. Although the outside may look very '60s' inside is far more up to date and contemporary. The Herbert Read Gallery is a fantastic extra that gives students many opportunites to see some amazing fellow artists they may not otherwise see or know.

I dont want to leave! Uca Canterbury is a great community of artists on all levels & disciplines of the creative spectrum. Nice change of pace from bigger cities like London etc. Yeah sure it would be great to have more than one cinema with more than one movie, and yeah it would be great to be able to walk around the streets for 5 minutes without seeing someone in fancy dress of some sort, but hey if that's what you want this isn't the place for you 😉

I guess because it's a place swarming with creative people, everyone looses that inhibition of being judged, and you end up more relaxed. The quality of tutors is gooood though, they, like those that study here are equally appreciative of rule bending and stuff.

Oh, and because of the small campus and community size you end up knowing everybody which, actually, is in equal measure a good a bad thing, it makes it kind of hard to avoid people. But besides that it gives you a sense of ownership over the place.

Yours sincerely:

Watch out! Don't accept any sandwiches! The sandwiches could almost be described as radioactive.
