I don't normally write reviews, but feel that the Wine School of Cheshire really deserves one on this occasion. I had my first experience of attending one of these events and can't believe I'd waited so long! It was a fantastic evening, Richard was so knowledgeable about all the wines, and it was fascinating how he showed us how the wines tasted/smelled so different, just by changing the glass you drank out of. His food pairing choices were also delicious and perfectly complemented the wines. It was a really fun sociable evening with good company. I would definitely recommend one of these events to anyone. You do not need to have any prior knowledge about wines, Richard entertains and educates you about the wines throughout the evening. I will definitely be booking myself on again soon, I may even try one of their river cruises next (Watch this space!)

We’ve attended a number of Wine School of Cheshire events over the last few months. We’ve enjoyed a wine cruise on the beautiful River Dee, a BBQ in the rain, a Port tasting just in time for Christmas and recently in 2025, both Lunch and Evening tastings with well-chosen food, at the fabulous Forge restaurant. We have learned a lot, laughed a lot and, more importantly, have enjoyed every event. We’ve sampled some outstanding wines from around the world, and all moderately priced. Almost all were available locally, so we have therefore also been able to enjoy them at home. We’ve made friends with some lovely people. Our host has ensured that every event has been informative, fun, relaxed and friendly. Looking forward to forthcoming events!

OMG, I can't recommend this place more. The atmosphere was amazing. The food was stunning and the wine was even better.

What can I say, we booked an afternoon with Richard for our team outing and it was absolutely fantastic! Every detail had been thought of, food was amazing, wine of course was seriously impressive and Richard is the perfect host. I can't wait for my next visit.

Another excellent evening expertly created and delivered by Richard at the new Chester gallery Art Box.
Our party enjoyed it very much and the whole room had a lovely friendly buzz by the end of the evening.

A very good two hour tour of six top class wines with chosen canapes.Good venue with 12 of us.Richard,is a gifted and knowledgeable presenter.On the last visit the number of wines had been reduced to five.

We celebrated English Wine Week in Style with Richard at 1539 in Chester - great host, fantastic knowledge about all the wines and taught the whole group all about them. Would highly recommend booking a wine tasting with Richard!
